The itinerary of a musician

Violinist | Conductor | Scholar

Born in Belgrade, Darko Milowich completed his foundational musical studies at the University of Arts’ Faculty of Music Arts, where he earned a Master of Music. He further refined his violin mastery under the guidance of E. Tschugaewa and R. Koelman, later expanding his artistry into conducting under the tutelage of Y. Simonov and Y. Ahronovitch. This multifaceted education forged his dual path as both a virtuoso violinist and a conductor, laying the cornerstone for a distinguished international career.

Milowich’s early career featured leadership roles with the Belgrade Strings, the Belgrade Radio Orchestra, and the Innsbruck Symphony Orchestra. In 1986, he moved to Luxembourg, becoming a long-standing member of the Luxembourg Philharmonic and the Solistes Européens. His profound contribution to the nation’s cultural life was formally recognized when he was appointed Knight of the Grand Ducal Order of the Oak Crown (Chevalier de l’Ordre de la Couronne de Chêne).

In 2014, his global influence expanded as a founding member of the Orquestra Nacional de Cabo Verde. His artistry has since taken him across Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas, and Israel. Notably, following a recital at London’s Wigmore Hall, he was acclaimed by the British press:

“The violinist with a solid technique and a warm tone” — The Daily Telegraph

“The competent artist” — The Times

Ensemble d'arco and pedagogy

As the founder and director of the ensemble d’arco, Milowich continues to explore new avenues in chamber music. His commitment extends beyond performance, embracing pedagogy and the nurturing of new talent. He is dedicated to sharing his extensive knowledge and passion for music with the next generation. The Intersection of Discipline and Passion

Beyond the stage, Milowich is a true polymath. A formidable linguist who fluently navigates eight languages—utilizing at least four on a daily basis—he also holds a PhD in Literature and a CMAS diving instructor certification. He brings the same precision required by the podium to every pursuit; while his background in equestrianism first instilled a sense of poise and control, he now refines that mental and physical clarity through Hot Yoga and IHP Pilates. This synthesis of scholarly depth and disciplined well-being culminates in his innovative chamber music series.
